Full Supermoon in Libra on the Spring Equinox: Bringing Balance into Bloom

This full moon is so much more than a full moon- it is a journey. This full moon is a path in the middle of the woods that you walk as the rain comes down to clear the frost. This full moon is an insight into your life as it is, and your life as you want it to be. So buckle up and breathe.

So much has happened in the month of March, already, thus far, and this full supermoon in Libra coinciding with the Vernal Equinox (or Autumnal Equinox, if you’re in the southern hemisphere) on 20 March is only bringing everything to a new, sublime height. If you have not yet read about the astrological and numerological shifting happening in the month of March thus far, you can do so, here. But for now, here’s a small recap:

Thus far, this month has provoked us to invoke ourselves. It has asked us to tap into our highest truths and speak them to the world. It has asked us to reassess our lifestyles and what changes we might need to make in order to bring comfort and security into our lives in a healthy way that feeds our souls. It has beckoned us to slow down and sink into our intentions, our intentionality, and our psychic abilities.

You have likely been feeling at war with yourself in some way or another. Big change is usually a catalyst for the questioning of the Self: Where are you at? Where would you like to be? Why aren’t you there? How could you let yourself get to where you are?

Additionally, this crazy Uranus energy has us like, “CHANGE! NOW!” and the slow-mo of Mercury Retrograde is like, “Chill, dude”. So we have a push-pull there, as well. You are also probably sitting in your life confused about the balance between taking your life into your own hands and doing what you want with it, versus answering to commitments and daily responsibilities.

Things might be coming up for you like, “I want to quit my job because it doesn’t bring me joy, but I need to be able to pay my bills, so how do I do that?” or, “I need out of this relationship, but my partner takes care of (fill in the blank) and I don’t know how I will survive without that extra help, even though they make me miserable” or, “I need to move! I need to change cities/houses/locations entirely, but my entire life- friends, family, community, work, etc.- are all here… how do I make that shift, fluidly, and make it make sense?”

These energies of Uranus’s new shift into Taurus and Mercury’s retrograde in the sign of Pisces are still with us, asking us to speed up and slow down all at the same time, and they will continue to do so through the end of the month…

And that is where the magic of the Full Supermoon in Libra falling on the Vernal Equinox comes in! (Seriously- it’s so magical, I can’t even put its splendour into words!)

The Full Supermoon

The full moon is a time of creation. It is that time when- after you have spent the last two weeks building up to something- you are able to finally release it into the world. It’s like a pimple that’s been building under the skin for two weeks that finally gets to pop. Or a festering of emotions within that finally bubble over into tears. Or anticipation for a vacation and finally getting in the car or on the plane and taking off. It’s like letting your breath go after holding it in for too long.

A supermoon is when the moon is closest to the planet earth. This gives its magnetism more weight, and what affects the oceans affects us (I’ll be talking about this in my Magic and the Moon workshop and ritual in Ann Arbor on the 19th). So just as the tides pull and push out farther and more drastically the closer that the moon is to the earth, so too, do our emotions and energies swing drastically in answer.

This is the third supermoon in a row, and the last full moon supermoon of 2019 (there are still new moon supermoons coming in August and September, but that is an entirely different energy). The third supermoon in the third month in a three year- that’s pretty special. This moon is going to be a huge release, and the culmination of a lot of themes that have been coming up for you since the beginning of the year. This is also going to be yet another prompt to SPEAK UP! To really shout your truest self into the world completely and unapologetically.

…in Libra

So, take all of what is written above, and apply it to the astrological sign of Libra, where the moon will be occupying at 0 degrees Libra. What this means is that is at its fullest point, the moon will be exactly at the very beginning of the sign of Libra. Those Libra energies will be seeping in for a few days prior, but because the moon is right at the beginning of Libra at its fullest point, energies from the sign that it was in prior- Virgo- will also be extremely present.

This is significant, as Universe is moving us through change. It is helping us to go back to the energies of last month’s Full Supermoon in Virgo to be able to wrap up any outstanding lessons that we may have been working through at that point in time. You can read more about what that moon was all about, here.

But in the meantime, let’s focus on this Libra stuff, which will be double-duty heavy-duty because of the equinox energy that it is attached to, but we’ll get to that in a minute.

Libra is the sign of balance and judgment. It is an air sign. I always thought that to be strange, as you would think that something representing balance would be grounded, but then I realised that it can judge and balance because it is looking at things from above the situation.

This full supermoon in Libra is asking us to gain perspective. I had a mentor who used to say, “You have to start looking from the outside, in. Not the inside, out.” What he meant by that is that it’s sometimes necessary to get out of your own head, your own feelings, and your own perspective in order to be able to see your life as it really is. This was a really elemental exercise in coming back to myself, and recovering from my diagnosis

This moon is asking us to determine where we are at in our lives, and what we need to change, accept, or let go of in order to create or maintain balance.

The Spring Equinox

All I have to say after the course of this winter is: OH MY GOODNESS- IT’S HERE! I’m sure you probably feel me on that if you’re dwelling in the northern hemisphere. The spring Equinox is a solar day. (If you read that and got chills, there’s a real reason for that, but we’ll get to that in a minute- patience, child!) It is one of the two days in the year- the other being the fall or autumnal equinox- where the day is completely balanced with the night: The amount of time that the sun is out is the exact amount of time that stars shower the night sky.

It is the defining moment of the beginning of spring, but because of that, it is also equal parts spring and winter. This is the moment when we can begin to thaw out our aspirations. We can begin to blossom in new ways, and we can choose whether we’d like to do that like the crocus or the daffodil- the very first flowers of spring- or like the asters or mums- the very last flowers of the summer. You choose your time as to when you would like to burst forth, but the seeds of your bloom are lurking beneath the earth in growth, no matter.

The Full Supermoon in Libra ON the day of the Spring Equinox

A solar day and a lunar day unite! This is why I said that if you read “solar day” and got chills, there was a reason. The lunar calendar and the solar calendar are different, and overlap very rarely. That is why this day is so inexplicably potent. The full moon is a lunar day. The equinox is a solar day. The sign of Libra is that of balance. The equinox is a day of balance. The moon is a supermoon, meaning it has more power. The sun is gaining light, which means it’s gaining power. We are looking under the earth and into our depths at the seeds preparing to grow. We are looking above the earth and into our own lives to see what is already budding, or what has come to fully blossom.

This is the time to bring forth the colours of your bloom. To balance the sunlight and water. To balance the moonlight and warmth. To speak your truth from out of your darkness; from out of your dirt.

This full moon and equinox are a great time to:

-Journal. Work out on paper where you were, where you are, and where you would like to be, and how you would like to get there.

-Meditate. Where do you see balance in your life? How can you bring about more of it.

-Plant seeds. Literally or figuratively.

-Just feel. Feel into the magic of the energies that are happening on this day, at this time. Feel the changing of seasons. Feel the force of the moon over your emotional tidings. Feel the psychic energy galore, and tap in if you’d like.

Wishing you a time of introspection, looking from the outside-in, and overall balance.

Happy Equinox. Happy Full Moon.
