2018 Astrology and Numerology: Doorways, Justice, Manifestation, and Grounding

Doorways, doorways, doorways- that is what we’re about here, isn’t it? And it’s what this year is about, too! The numerological vibration of this year is an 11 (2+0+1+8= 11), which is the number of the Master Doorway.

This is a year of new opportunities, making connections, travel (whether physically or astrally through the spirit realms), building career or lifestyle, manifestation, attuning to your psychic self, and meeting your Higher Self to hear it loud and clear. This is the year you can connect with the stars; that you can see into time dimension slips and other lifetimes. Your senses might already be tingling with excitement. Perhaps you’ve been seeing lots of repeating numbers on clocks and license plates lately, as well.

In Tarot, 11 is the number of the Justice card in the Major Arcana (the most important 22 cards in the deck). Through our own personal energetic shifts and keeping ourselves in check, we will be working to bring justice to the world. Balance is key, this year. The weighing of the scales- a doorway cannot happen if it is missing one side of the frame.

This portal year starts out with a bang as we enter 2018 with the Full Supermoon in Cancer on portal day 1 January, i.e.1-1, or, if you’re being technical (not to bash this coolness over your head) 1-1-11 (11 year, remember?). The energies will be high as we move into 2018, our emotions bursting at the seams but also giving us the chance to connect to ourselves. If you’d like to read more about this first full moon of the year on the first day of the year, click here!

Also highly noteworthy is the fact that the year starts out with not one, but TWO blue moons! A blue moon is when two full moons occur in the same solar month, and in both January and March we have full moons on the 1st and the 31st, with no full moons in February to be seen. This is significant. The saying “once in a blue moon” is not for naught. To have a blue moon is rare, but to have two in a row like this is very rare. A blue moon is a portal in and of itself, as well, if you come to think of the occurrence as energetic bookends. And our ‘bookend’ on 31 January is also a supermoon- it’s a blue supermoon!

But wait- there’s more! The second full moon in January and falls at 11 degrees of Leo, and the first full moon of March actually happens at 11 degrees of Virgo, (11 degrees in technical terms simply shows where the moon or sun or planet are in the transit of a sign, and 11 degrees would mean that the moon will be close to the middle of it) which is yet another portal.

What’s more, (and this quite frankly blows my damn mind) the Full Blue Moon on the 31st of January at 11 degrees of Leo will also present us with a TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE! What blows my mind about this is that this is the same point in the sky that the sun was in last August when we had our total solar eclipse of 2017. And it’s a BLUE moon, and that whole eclipse was highly associated with Sirius which is represented by blue. And lions. Like Leo. Yea, like I said- mind. blown.

But this month of March is really meant to be a slow time to reflect on ourselves and how far we’ve come in business this year, as Jupiter goes retrograde in Scorpio in the beginning of the month, and Mercury goes retrograde in Aries on the 22nd. Honestly, this month may be a titch stickier to get through than others, but just make sure to watch your mouth and your pocket book. Pay attention to you and don’t get cocky.

In the middle of April, Mercury once again goes direct in the sign of Aries, which is incidentally the same day and in the same sign that the moon turns new. Time to take a breath, fill your cup up with the passion you’ve been yearning towards, and then… learn some lessons? Because Saturn goes retrograde in Capricorn a few days later, and only 5 days after that fun thing where all of our personal shadows come out to be challenged and faced, the world’s shadows will do the same as Pluto goes retrograde in Capricorn, as well. And then, naturally, we have the full moon in Scorpio at the end of the month. So everything could potentially blow up in April. But that’s okay, because where buildings are broken there is room to start building anew.

And that is a definite theme, this year: building things through duality, balance, and manifestation. See, 11 also boils down to 2, which is the number of duality; having one foot on each side of the threshold; of learning the in-betweens whilst also learning the black and whites; of potentially being tested to see how balanced you are. This is also mimicked in the sense of 11 being a connection to the spirit realm, and a parallel of many major planets (Saturn, Pluto, Uranus) finding themselves in earth signs throughout the year. The balance between mother earth and our human bodies holding us paired with the 11 energies paving the way to our spiritual enhancement and enlightenment is essential to understand this year.

So, yes, tests will be thrown. It is yet another big year of many planetary retrogrades. As you just read, in April we will simultaneously have 3 planets (Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto) retrograde at the same time, and two of them (Saturn and Pluto) are in the same sign (Capricorn), which means that they will be uniting to teach us our lessons in an even stronger form. In June we add two more planets to the retrograde mix: Neptune in Pisces, and Mars in Aquarius. That means that in June we will once again have 5 planets retrograde at the same time!

In July, Jupiter thankfully goes direct, still in the sign of Scorpio, and then we will have two eclipses- one partial solar and one total lunar- to help us flesh out what we learned from our money and business experiences since Jupiter turned retrograde to begin with.

Buuuut in August, we return to having 5 planets retrograde, again, as Uranus turns retrograde in Taurus, though Mercury will go direct in the sign of Leo on the 19th, Mars will also go direct in the sign of Capricorn on the 30th, leaving us with only 3 more to turn direct and relieve us. There could be some wonky experiences as things shift back, so just be mindful of your actions- as you should always try to be. We also experience another partial solar eclipse in the sign of Leo this month.

September will be smooth sailing with two of our last retrograde planets- Saturn and Pluto- both turning direct one after the other, both in the sign of Capricorn. I don’t know why I feel this way but I’m feeling some claircognisance going on, so I’m going with it- that Aries full moon will help with the experience of these going direct, as well. This is going to be a HUGELY necessary and powerful full moon. Do something for it, if you wish.

Annnnd then Venus turns retrograde in the sign of Scorpio in October, so just as we’ve finished up one large lesson (or several), we’re given slight time to recuperate before getting slammed with the next one. Even though it’s just this “one thing”, I feel that after having endured so much, it might trudge up a lot of relationship junk for the month. And, as a beautiful Universe plus, not only will we experience Venus retrograde in Scorpio- which will no doubt have us look into our patterns of intensity, codependency, and relationship shadows involving unworthiness, trust, and self doubt- but we get the pleasure of experiencing Venus retrograde in Libra, as well, as it switches signs at the end of the month, giving way for us to take a look at our patterns of loftiness or a lack of balance within relationships (balance between ourselves and our partners, between romance and the rest of our lives, between romanticism and realism, etc.). Fun, fun, fun! But it always brings more clarity to exactly what it is that we want and need, and what’s healthiest for us.

In November we get to experience the movement of Uranus retrograde from Taurus to Aries, which will test the passions and military ideals of the global community. Don’t freak out. I’m not saying WWIII is gonna break out. I’m saying we’ll see whether the world learns through fear or love, and it might get interesting. What is lovely is that Venus going direct in the sign of Libra this month. What counteracts that is Mercury going retrograde that exact same day (the 16th) in the sign of Sagittarius. You know the drill- be mindful of your actions and your communications, and don’t let blaming Mercury act as a nice scapegoat for you. Plus, you’ll know you have Neptune going direct in Pisces at least giving all of us a spiritual breath of fresh air at the end of the month. So this months a little astrologically crazy- lots going on, but in a very balanced way. Also interestingly enough, the full moon happens at 0 degrees Gemini, which means that it is yet another portal full moon as it is essentially in between signs, crossing over from Taurus to Gemini. This gives us a nice balance, too, of earthiness and loftiness, and might make for some incredible astral travel, trance, and meditation experiences.
On the first day of December we experience Mercury retrograde moving into Scorpio, maybe giving us a taste of facing our own inner dialogue, which could actually be very healing if you pay attention. This won’t be too long, however, as Mercury goes direct, again, on the 5th, but it will give you just enough of a taste to be able to recognise what self-talk you might want to change or dig deeper into psychologically. What’s really beautiful and I can’t get enough of the energy revolving around is the winter solstice of 2018. It is the same day as the full moon at 0 degrees Cancer, making it on the cusp- the doorway threshold- between two signs of Gemini and Cancer. While Cancer will help us to dig deep and truly experience our emotions on a personal, internal level, Gemini will allow us to let things go. This is so, so gorgeous as we not only move into at new solar and numerological year (2019= 3 is communication, which Gemini is the ruling sign of… nice segue, no?), but also as we experience the rebirth of the sun on the darkest day of the year. The full moon will light up the darkest day of the year. I don’t even have words for this one, so I’m not going to try, at this point. Talk to me again around this time of year, next year, and maybe by then I will have put words to the feelings.

So to summarize: 2018 is a year of openings and shooting out the crown as well as tests and a need to ground. It’s all about the duality and the balance. Where we have easy and palpable connection to Source, we also need human instances to keep us grounded. That is the interaction that will be happening, here. It is also an immense year for building upon what we started anew in 2017’s ‘1’ year with fervor, passion, and a strong alignment and attunement to our Higher Selves. In even shorter terms…
